Wallpaper Covered Bandbox with Mythological and Neoclassical Scenes, America, second quarter 19th century, large oval box, the top depicting a figure, a temple, trees, and a fountain in red and green on a blue ground, the sides with a scene of two female figures driving a carriage pulled by a mythological bird, another panel with camels and temple ruins, in red, green and tan on a blue ground, (tears, repairs to interior rim joinery), ht. 10 1/4, dia. wd. 12 1/2, lg. 14 in.
