Classical Mahogany Carved and Veneered Sofa, probably New York, c. 1820-35, the cylindrical crestrail terminating in carved acanthus leaves and floral rosettes above scrolled arms with similar carving which terminate at the straight crossbanded veneered seat rail with carved square floral rosettes, all resting on foliate and fruit-carved legs continuing to hairy paw feet, the striped watered moreen upholstery in shades of olive green and rose accented by gold, with braid trim and bolsters having brass anthemiums, ht. 33, lg. 89, dp. 26, seat ht. 17 in. Note: professionally upholstered by The Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities Conservation Center in 1996.
