Double-sided Portrait Miniature Memorial Locket, America, c. 1790, watercolor on ivory showing a bust-length oval portrait of a young woman facing left wearing a white mob cap and dress gathered with a blue ribbon,the reverse with a watercolor on ivory memorial depicting a young man with three young children in a landscape beside an urn-topped monument inscribed "Sacred to the memory of E. Whilche- Obt Sep't 19 1799 aged 27 years 6 months" surrounded by a braided lock of hair, in a gold pendant frame with a gold ring hanger engraved "A Gift From a Friend", 2 1/4 x 1 7/8 in. Condition: Very good.
