Ulises Rodriquez (Colombian/American, b. 1962) Female Figure Unsigned. Stone, height 34 1/4 in. (87.0 cm). Condition: Losses, staining. N.B. The stone for this piece is purportedly from the town of Calatorao in Spain. Calatorao is known for its "black marble." The stone consists mostly of black limestone which, when polished, resembles marble. Rodriquez studied at the University of Bogota, Sante Fe de Bogota, Colombia and the University of Madrid Computense. His work has been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions in the U.S. and internationally.
