Painted and engraved by Dan Orme (English, 1766-1832). "Battle of The Nile", hand colored engraving, published 1805 in London. Engraving depicts a scene from the Battle of the Nile during the French Revolutionary War between the British Royal Navy and the Navy of the French Republic at Aboukir Bay on the Mediterranean coast off Egypt in early August 1798. Inscribed below image lower left "Painted by Dan. Orme" and lower right "Engraved by Dan. Orme, Historical Engraver to His Majesty". Framed approximately 30.25" x 34.25", sight size 19.25" x 23".
