René Magritte (Belgian, 1898-1967) Love , Georgette painted by Rene Magritte, 1928, Perreux-sur-Marne, possibly a later printing. Numbered, inscribed, and indistinctly initialed "11/100, I..." in pencil along the lower edge (beneath the mat), identified on a label from the Obelisk Gallery, Boston, affixed to the backing. Gelatin silver print, image size 4 1/2 x 2 5/8 in., framed. Condition: Not examined out of frame. N.B. This photograph is based on the oil painting Attempting the Impossible , in which Magritte plays with the concepts of painter and model, attesting "that the desire for woman and the painter's desire are one and the same."
