Tin Glazed Powder Manganese Ground Stein, Germany, 18th century, possibly Potsdam or Berlin, blue decorated with a central shield shaped cartouche with Oriental garden, foliate borders, pewter footrim, rim, hinged cover and thumbrest, cover engraved A. 1730 H., underglaze "D" under base, ht. to top of cover 8 1/4 in. Glaze loss to sides of handle; 3/4" rim chip under top pewter rim.
