Large Sheffield Plate Soup Tureen, Padley, Parkin & Co. , mid 19th century, shaped ovoid, lid with shell and scroll handle on rocaille ground, similar side handles ending in leafy scrolls, on heavy rocaille base, engraved with mottoed crests, lg. to handles 17 3/4, ht. approx. 12 1/2 in. Provenance: Christopher Hallowell Phillips (1921-2008), notable public servant, whose service included deputy US representative on UN Security Council 1969-1973, and U.S. Ambassador to Brunei 1989-91.
