Italian Violin, c. 1800, Possibly a Member of the Guadagnini Family, labeled JOHANNES BAPTISTA GUADAGNINI, CREMONENSIS FECIT TAURINI, GBG, ALUMNUS ANTONI STRADIVARI 17--, length of two-piece back 13 15/16 in., 358 mm. Some small filled wormholes in upper back near center joint, repaired hairline cracks under chinrest area, and to treble side of saddle. Repaired face crack below bass side ff, upper bass side edge near neck joint, inlaid soundpost patch (oval patch, top, at soundpost position). Rib fractures near lower block and lower treble corner. Some replaced sections of top edges.
