William and Mary Maple Red-painted Gateleg Table, possibly southeastern Massachusetts, c. 1730-50, with two drawers and boldly turned legs and stretchers, old surface, (repairs and imperfections), ht. 26 3/4, dp. 47 3/4, open wd. 53 in. original top, one leaf may be pieced about 6 inches at the edge; one leaf scored to removed a warp from the underside; hinges replaced several times; center board shrunk and cracked, now patched and stained (not a very good job of it);
