Mahogany Connecticut "Banjo" Wall Clock attributed to Eli Terry, Jr. , Plymouth, Connecticut, c. 1832-35, the case with flat mahogany frames, the glazed section over the painted wooden dial with Roman numerals, hinged mid section with pendulum aperture and painted tablet, the lower with painting of a large Greek revival home, thirty-hour time and strike wooden movement with count wheel strike, iron weights and pendulum, ht. 35 in. A related example in the J. Cheney Wells Collection at Old Sturbridge Village is illustrated and discussed in Philip Zea and Robert C. Cheney, Clock Making in New England, 1725-1825 , p. 133. dial cleaned and relined, spandrel colors enhanced, both glasses are repainted.
