British School, late 19th/ early 20th century. "Wilderness Lake", oil on canvas, signed lower left "BC. Marks". Vertically oriented naturalistic painting depicting a serene lake in the wilderness, the sprawling body of water at center with near bank having a rocky shore with tall and fanning tree to left, the far shore lush with trees beginning to turn to red as in Autumn, the right bank with two trees, one having a snapped off trunk as if from a storm or other influence of weather, and a mountain vista to far background at right, the scene set below blue sky with wispy white clouds. Framed approximately 30.5" x 25.25", unframed approximately 24" x 18.5".
