Silver, Enamel, and Freshwater Pearl Plaque, Wiener Werkstaette, designed as button pearl buds among scrolling leaves and vines on a blue enamel ground, lg. 1 3/4 in., with stamp for WW, (later pinstem lost, small enamel losses, remnants of gilding). Note: For similar pendants by Carl Otto Czeschka and Franz Delavilla, see Schmuck in Deutschland und Oesterreich , by Ulrike von Hase, pp. 302-303, fig. 616 and 620. Wiener Werkstaette Plaque two areas of enamel loss to front, one in the upper left corner, one along the bottom that is more obtrusive small spots of tarnish and oxidation throughout, not obtrusive someone had taken off the jump rings that probably attached to the top edge of the frame to use this as a pendant, and they put on a pinstem. The pinstem has now broken off, so it has no working findings We have looked at length at the marks from different directions - the one on the back appears to be the Wienerwekstaette mark, while the other may be the same (although it doesn''t quite seem to have the intermeshed WW) or an M with another letter - The brooch was found by a picker in an old factory town outside Boston
