Important War of 1812 painted military drum , labeled by Henry Fraley, Germantown and used by Henry Lightner "The drummer boy of Fort McHenry" , retaining its original decoration of a large spread winged eagle with American shield body, below a banner inscribed 1st Compy. 1st Battln 2d Regiment , all on a blue ground, 17 1/4" h., 16 3/4" w. Accompanying this lot is a pencil and wash drawing of Lightner and his drum at the age of 83. Provenance: Collection of H. Richard Dietrich, Jr.
