Portrait Miniature of a Girl in a White Dress with Blue Bodice, America, c. 1840, watercolor on ivory, bust-length portrait depicting the brown-eyed girl wearing a beaded pearl necklace, sight size 2 5/8 x 2 1/8 in., housed in a hinged gutta percha case with embossed gilt-metal liner with oval aperture. Condition: 1/2 in. line at c.l. edge. A few tiny brown specks on reverse of glass, not on ivory, 1/2 in. lg. grayish-brown line at center left is on ivory, otherwise in good condition. it''s in an old dageurreotype case.
