Portrait Miniature of a Young Woman Wearing a Dark Blue Dress, c. 1845, unsigned, watercolor on ivory, depicting the woman wearing a dark blue off-the-shoulder dress, her dark brown hair worn in ringlets over her ears, 3 1/4 x 2 1/2 in., in an engraved gilt-brass case housed in a hinged black leather case. Condition: Subtle paint smudge u.r. background, small scratch c.l. background. The paint smudge is about 1/2 x 1 4/ in., the scratch is about 1/4 in., glass is spotty on reverse surface.
