Framed Silk Rose Bouquet Needlework Picture, "OLIVE STORER FRANKLIN ACADEMY ANDOVER 1805," Massachusetts, worked in silk threads on a silk ground, depicting a bouquet of rose blossoms and buds gathered with a blue bowknot, in an eglomise mat with gilt inscriptions, (imperfections), 13 1/2 x 10 1/4 in. , in a period molded giltwood frame. Literature: This needlework is mentioned in New England Samplers to 1840, by Glee Kreuger, published by Old Sturbridge Village, p. 155. Fading, some subtle thread losses on blossoms and leaves, light stains l.l. and l.r. corners, losses to the reverse painted gilt mat border.
