Attributed to Filberto (Neapolitan, Early 19th Century) The Brig Asia Leaving Palermo Dec'r 25th 1827. Unsigned, brig identified on bow, titled and dated below. Watercolor and gouache on wove paper, 16 1/4 x 23 1/2 in., in a later carved wooden frame. Condition: Laid down onto paper, toning, staining, minor foxing. Small paper abrasion at u.r. background sky with a sliver of surface paper lifted about 1/2 in. lg., stain along right side about 3 3/4 in. into image. Some light staining around edges, toning primarily along the lower border with inscription.
