John Whorf (American, 1903-1959) Window over the Seine Signed "John Whorf" l. r., partial composition of a ship portrait on the reverse, titled in a later inscription on the reverse and identified on a label from Vose, Boston, affixed to the backing. Watercolor on paper, sight size 15 1/4 x 22 in. (38.7 x 55.9 cm), framed. Condition: Rippling, gentle toning/mat burn, scattered staining and/or foxing, pinholes at edges, brown paper tape at top edge on the reverse. Provenance: The property of Samuel E. Codman, Charles G. Loring House, Prides Crossing, Massachusetts. The sheet measures approx. 15 1/2 x 23 in. In addition to the paper tape (mentioned above) there is toning on the reverse.
