Louis Pierre Spindler (French, 1800-1889) The Judgment of Solomon Signed and dated "Spindler 1862" l. l. Oil on canvas, 71 1/2 x 52 3/4 in. (181.6 x 134.0 cm), framed. Condition: Lined, retouch (including repaired tears), surface grime. Mounting bubble to lining on the reverse, approximately 1 1/2 x 10 in., retouch primarily to the u.l. quadrant (with approximately 6 lines), the longest line approximately 32 x 1/2 in., most probably the result of restored tears.
