Anders Zorn (Swedish, 1860-1920) Shallow, 1913, fourth state of four (Asplund, 259). Signed "Zorn" in pencil l.r., signed and dated in the matrix. Etching on paper, plate size 11 1/4 x 7 5/8 in. (28.5 x 19.3 cm), framed. Condition: Toning, not examined out of frame. Provenance: From the Estates of Mary Ann and Frederick Lippitt, Providence, Rhode Island. Out of the frame, the sheet is laid paper with deckled edges and measures 17 3/4 x 13 inches, so the margins are all 2 1/2 inches or more. The work has brown paper tape to the edges, verso, as well as on the verso just outside of the plate mark. The lower left corner of the margin is missing (well away from the image). The face of the work has multiple lines of mat burn, plus it is gently light struck and foxed. The work is only matted, but a frame accompanies the lot.
