Lila Pell Katzen (American, 1932-1998) Lot of Two Works: Penumbra and Study of Trees Penumbra signed, inscribed and titled "Katzen Balt. MD..." on the reverse, oil and acrylic on canvas, 60 1/2 x 48 1/4 in. (153.7 x 122.6 cm), framed; Trees signed and dated "Katzen -'62" l.r., identified on a label from the Chrysler Museum at Norfolk affixed to the reverse, gouache on paper, sheet size 24 x 18 in. (61.0 x 45.7 cm), unframed. Condition: Penumbra good; Trees glued to backing mat at four corners. Provenance: Property of the Chrysler Museum of Art, sold to benefit acquisition funds.
