Marcel Rieder (French, 1852-1942) Kitchen Interior Signed "M. Rieder" l.r., identified on a temporary loan label from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, affixed to the reverse. Oil on canvas, 21 3/4 x 18 1/4 in. (55.2 x 46.4 cm), framed. Condition: Retouch. N.B. Marcel Rieder was born in Thann, in the region of Alsace, France and studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris with Alexander Cabanel. He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon and was known for his genre scenes which played with the effects of light.
