Currier & Ives, publishers (American, 1857-1907) Lot of Two Works: Looking Down the Yo-semite. and A Home on the Mississippi., Looking Down the Yo-semite undated, A Home on the Mississippi dated 1871 (Conningham, 3767, 2876). Identified in inscriptions in the matrix. Small folio lithographs with hand-coloring on paper, sheet sizes 10 x 14, 10 x 13 3/4 in., respectively, housed in molded wood frames. Condition: Looking Down with margins of 1/2 in. or more, toning, stains; Mississippi with margins of 1/8 in. or more, tears into image, tears, repairs. Note: A Home on the Mississippi ranks no. 25 in the New Best 50 , small folio. Looking Down the Yo-semite- stains on lower margin go into image but are barely noticeable, there are unobtrusive some slight creases, also a couple foxmarks on lower margin; A Home on the Mississippi- tears into image: u.r. corner into image about 1/2 in., u.c. elongated u-shaped tear into image about 5/8 in., another tear u.c. about 1/2 in. into image tip of u.r. corner torn, tear u.l about 1 1/4 in. into image, several losses to edge and corners, with old and new conservation repairs.
