Black-painted Braced Continuous-Arm Windsor Chair, branded "EB Tracy", Lisbon, Connecticut, the black paint is over the original green with incised crest rail and tail piece, (minor paint wear), ht. 37, seat ht. 17 1/2 in. Note: Ebenezer Tracy (1744-1803) is considered one of the most prolific Windsor chair makers. Literature: The Windsor Style in America by Charles Santore pictures a similar chair, p. 112, plate 121. There is a 3 in. area on the center of the bow with two cracks stabilized with an early nail , there are two small holes pierced through on the arch.
