Large Green-glazed Redware Jar, southeastern Massachusetts or Rhode Island, late 18th/early 19th century, tapered cylindrical form with sloped shoulder, applied lug handles, mottled green copper oxide glaze, (minor chips), ht. 11 in. Literature: Similarly glazed redware attributed to southeastern Massachusetts or Rhode Island is illustrated and discussed in Norton Stoneware and American Redware: The Bennington Collection, by Catherine Zusy, The Bennington Museum, Vermont, 1991, pp. 62-3. old 3/4 in. and 5/8 in shallow rim chips, one handle with 2 1/2 in. area of roughness and glaze loss, the other handle with 1/2 in. chip and two tiny glaze flakes, some light scratches around the body, 3/4 and 1/4 in base edge chips.
