After William James Bennett (Anglo-American, c. 1784-1844) WEST POINT, FROM PHILLIPSTOWN. Unsigned. Watercolor on paper, probably second quarter 19th century, 17 1/4 x 23 1/4 in., in a period mitered wood frame. Condition: Toning, foxing, minor edge losses. Note: This view was copied after the original painting done by William James Bennett. In 1831 it was copied by William Guy Hall, engraved by John Hill, and published by Parker & Clover, 180 Fulton Street, New York. Later the copperplate engraving was used by Currier & Ives. about 1/4x 1 1/2 in. loss on edge u.r., angled corner loss about 1/4 x 1 1/4 in. at u.l. corner.
