Painted Fancy Chair, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, 1805-15, gray-painted surface with gilt decoration, ht. 36, seat ht. 17 1/4 in. Note: This lot is similar to a side chair in the Rundett-May historic house Museum in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Their chair was gifted to Historic New England by the owner Ralph Mayo. some old surface, some enhancements to some of gilt.
