Likely Continental, 19th century. A large and heavy cast iron ovular lidded oven or stove, the body of egg form with conforming domed lid bearing a scrolled finial atop scrolled ovular mounting and with wide stenciled gilt patterned band above rim with rolled lip, the narrow sides of body each with a loop form handle on reticulated scrolled mounting, the whole raised on four acanthus leaf scrolled feet, the hollow interior with severe oxidation likely due to exposure to extreme heat. Unmarked. Overall approximately 19.25" tall, 21.25" wide, 17" deep.
