Watercolor on paper, depicting a woman grieving, with one arm resting on a monument inscribed :Affectionately inscribed To the Memory of Elias Tarlton Jr. Who departed this life March 24, 1815. Age 44," the scene including trees and a town in the distance, 12 1/2 x 15 1/4 in., in a molded wood frame. Condition: Minor toning and foxing. Note: A genealogy search records that Elias Tarlton Jr. was born March 10, 1771 to Elias and Mary (Randall) Tarlton of New Castle, Rockingham, New Hampshire, the first child of twelve children.
