Two Pairs of Cloth and Hide Beaded Gauntlets, Plateau, a small pair partially beaded with multicolored floral devices, and a larger pair with elk heads beaded on the cuffs and floral devices below, lg. to 14 in. Provenance: John Greene, after descent through the Greene family. George A. Greene Sr. (1864-1933) married Elizabeth Gallagher, daughter of Peter and Nanniet Gallagher. Peter Gallagher (1805-1871) was an Indian agent, and this is bag is believed to have been given to the family from the Shoshone culture, possibly by the Nez Perce, a large Idaho tribe.
