American Nickel Plated Cannon-form Handled Cane, late 19th century, the L-handle formed as a cannon on capstan, realistically modeled, and engraved with foliates and monogrammed to top, with brass collar on hardwood shaft, lg. 34 1/2 in. Note: As pictured in Cane Curiosa, from Gun to Gadget , by Catherine Dike, .348, 33/56 and described therein as "cheroot guns," as burning cigars where placed in the vent to explode a small charge.
