Late Victorian Georgian-style Carved Mahogany Tall Case Chiming Clock, retailed by Marcus & Co. , New York, the brass and steel works with three-train movement having subsidiary seconds, chime/silent and strike/silent dials, chiming on five gongs. Provenance: Descended from the original owner, this clock was a wedding gift from Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Carnegie to Mr. and Mrs. William Dowd of New York. Mrs. Dowd having attended school with Mrs. Carnegie and Mr. Dowd was a successful New York business man of the late 19th century.
