Large Cased Tea Caddy, China, 19th century, rectangular box with dovetail construction and brass handles, hinged lid opens to cavity lined with gilt paper with salmon colored floral designs, the lid with silk embroidered lining with floral and butterfly designs; conforming lead box fits into cavity, the top and sides covered with silk panels, each hand-painted with a different scene depicting figures in a courtyard, fish, and floral motifs, woven silk borders, the cover with appliqued and stuffed elephant figure, (imperfections), 9 3/4 x 11 1/4 x 8 3/4 in.
