Chippendale Mahogany Carved Tall Case Clock, Newport, Rhode Island, 1750-70, the hood with molded swan's neck cresting with carved rosette terminals and two carved and reeded urn finials on urn plinths above the arched molding centering a keystone and thumb-molded glazed tombstone door enclosing a painted iron dial showing a sailing vessel in the arch with gilt spandrels,with calendar aperture, seconds hand, and eight-day brass weight-driven movement, all flanked by turned and reeded free standing columns, the thumb-molded tombstone shell-carved and blocked door flanked by turned and reeded quarter-columns on molded base with lambrequin corners and thumbmolded raised panel on molded base, (imperfections, damage and replacements), ht. 97 in.
