Dante Alighieri (1265-1321), Divine Commedia in English; The Dore Dante , London, et al., Cassell and Co., translated by The Rev. Henry Francis Cary, six volumes, dedicated to and signed by Sir Henry Irving, numbered XIV of fifty-five copies, each volume with a watercolor drawing after Gustave Dore by William Satterlee, bound in full morocco extra by La Belle Sauvage Bindery, the cover with central draped panel with multicolored onlays with the initials "DD" surmounted by two masks, green curtains and flanked by purple inlaid flowers, the borders with scrolled gilt borders; each interior front cover with green and red moroccan inlaid Art Nouveau design with tightly bunched grape and leaf gilt borders and mounted to the center with a bronze portrait medallion of Dante; the interior back cover with multicolored moroccan onlay design of foliage (in three differing patterns throughout the six volumes) and having silk doublures to the front and back, folio, (very minor wear to spine edges).
