Mario Cravo Jr. (Brazilian, b. 1923) watercolor on paper; signed, titled, and dated to back "Mario Cravo Jr. 'Desenhos Para Escultura' 1965" as well as signed to bottom left corner of front; depicting sculpture designs; framed under glass; measures approximately 21" x 26-11/16" with frame and has a sight image of approximately 19-1/8" x 25"; in Fair overall condition with some marking to glass. Mario Cravo, Jr. was born April 13, 1923 in Salvador, Brazil to prosperous merchant father Mario Cravo da Silva and mother (cousin of the poet Castro Alves) Marina Jorge Cravo, the first of four children. He is best known as being part of the first generation of the Modernist artists of Bahia, and is well known as a sculptor, painter, engraver, and poet.
