Continental School, early 20th century. "The Artist at Play", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Figural portrait painting depicting a stout man with a shaped moustache, pale green eyes and a clever grin, dressed in a dark brown three piece suit, his hat tilted back on his head in a jovial manner, he holds a group of brushes and a paint palette in his left hand and a green bottle (likely wine) in his right, his person is surrounded by an operatic vignette of Bacchanalian putti and draped red fabric. Unframed approximately 54.25" x 46.5".
