Schwicker Signed WC, Cardinals Playing Chess

Amelio Schwicker (Italian, 19th/ 20th century). "Cardinals at Chess", watercolor on paper, signed lower left. Finely painted figural scene depicting two cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church in traditional red garb seated around a carved and gilt table adorned with white lace tablecloth while playing chess. One man falling asleep in green painted armchair, young woman in green and white uniform brings tray with tea. Interior with green and gold drapes and painting on wall of young woman in idyllic landscape. Framed approximately 24.25" x 18.5". Sight size approximately 18" x 12.25".
