AMERICAN CARVED ROSEWOOD TESTER BED, CIRCA 1850, H 115", W 66", L 81":Clover pattern posts. Generous cluster column posts supporting a molded tester, the headboard with a shell carved crest flanked by scrolls, over a trio of shaped panels,joined by scalloped rails, the bed now extended to accommodate acontemporary queen size mattress, H 115", W 66.5", L 81". Long believed tobe from New Orleans, beds of this type were manufactured for theflourishing antebellum New Orleans furniture trade.
