JOHN BYAM SHAW (BRITISH, 1872-1919), OIL ON WOOD PANEL, "MAN ON STAIRWAY", 1901, 13 1/2" X 9 3/4":Panel is bevelled. Depicting a bearded man descending a dark stairway carrying a pistol and chamber stick, signed and dated lower right, gilt frame. Lowdeswell & Dowdeswells label on verso as well as being marked "Lot 308, 23-3-'87" and having a label with the same information. (rev.20070411)
