BRUSSELS TAPESTRY, 'VENUS AT THE FORGE OF VULCAN', SIGNED "F. V.D.B", 18TH CENTURY, 9' 5" X 7' 0":Brussels mark of a shield between two B's, the first standing for Brussels, the second for Brabant, the province of which Brussels is the capital (see photo). Also signed "F.V.D.B.", possibly Frans van der Borght (see photo). Silk and wool tapestry depicting Venus, accompanied by Cupid, standing before Vulcan who is depicted at his workbench, directing him towards armor made for Aneas, her son. Donated by Henry Ford I to St Martha's Episcopal Church rectory, 15801 Joy Road, Detroit, a church built and furnished by Clara and Henry Ford I; the Fords are buried in the church cemetery.
