Includes a framed November 11, 1911 signed letter from the artist to the owner of the painting, Mr. Booker from Toledo, Ohio. According to the Osthaus letter, the painting was inspired by the action and pose of his dog, Mack, on a ruffed grouse hunting trip near Tawas, MI. (rev.20070608)
