SAVELI ABRAMOVICH SORIN (RUSSIAN, 1878-1953), OIL ON CANVAS, C. 1924, 23 3/4" X 36 1/2", 'RED ROSES':Depicting red roses and lilacs in an urn, signed on the stretcher and inscribed in Cyrillic with translation, "Given to Serge & Alice on 24 July 1924 As A Prent (sic) on Their Wedding (sic)" [see photo], framed. From the collection of Prince and Princess Obolensky, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI. This painting was a gift from the artist (a close personal friend) to Prince Serge Obolensky and his second wife Alice Astor. (rev.20080112)
