French School, 19th century. "Portrait of a Noblewoman", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Ovular painting depicting a young beauty at waist length from the side, her porcelain complected face turning to face the viewer over her left shoulder with raven hair piled atop her head and decorated with jewels and ribbons, the figure wearing an ornate red silk dress with gilt threading and black buttons overlaid with a deep green cape or coat, the woman set before a dark solid backdrop. Framed approximately 20.575" x 17.5", unframed approximately 15.875" x 13.125".
