Continental School, 19th century. "The Wooing Matador", oil on wood panel, signed lower right "J. Seip". Small painting depicting an intimate street scene with a young beauty in long ruffled white dress standing within an arched stone doorway in front of an open wooden door, and at her feet below two stone steps a Matador or bullfighter in traditional ornate costuming bowing slightly at the waist toward her with fingers pressed to his lips, his other arm bent at the elbow and holding his cape, the woman gazing at the man coyly as she raises her dress slightly to expose a stockinged ankle and white shoe.
