British School, first half 19th century. "Pastoral Landscape", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Well painted horizontal naturalistic landscape depicting a wide English vista with dirt road at right with cows and sheep walking down it ahead of a family, the woman seated in the shade below a large tree that commands the central composition, with a home at the end of the road at right and another structure to left of tree, and at left displaying a far reaching landscape into background with trees dotting the low horizon line, the painting with puffy white cumulus clouds in a blue sky with approaching darkness at top left corner. Verso with paper label fragment having indistinguishable hand writing, also with paper label "Davies Turner, Packers & Shippers, England & Scotland". Framed approximately 29.875" x 34.75", unframed approximately 24.75" x 29.75". Provenance: From the Estate of Henry G. Muecke Jr., Atlanta, Georgia.
