Continental School, first half 20th century. "On The Water", graphite on paper, signed twice lower left "Morren" possibly for Georges Morren (Belgian, 1868-1941). Finely rendered pencil study depicting a bay or inlet with rolling hills to background and banked at right by a thick line of trees beside a structure with dormer windows, the water holding many fishing vessels, one at left with a man standing on the bow. Inscribed to verso of sheet "Le Carpentiere A?u, etoupe No. 35". Framed approximately 11.5" x 15.25". Sheet size approximately 6.375" x 9.375".
