JAPANESE SATSUMA DOUBLE GOURD VASE BY KINKOZAN, H 5 1/2":Enamel floral decoration about the upper section, the lower section with reserves of people in outdoor activities, signed (see photo). Provenance: Dr. Donald Sutherland of Canada, purchased from the Japanese display at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exhibition, St. Louis, Missouri; acquired by William and Jo-Ann Van Rooy, 1968, and their collection was recently featured in the book SHAPE & DECORATION IN JAPANESE EXPORT CERAMICS by Nancy N.
