Chinese, late 19th/ early 20th century possibly earlier. A pair of framed embroidered silk ceremonial hangings for decoration and blessing of the wedding bed, the two hangings with opposing decoration of five cartouches along tapered top end with embroidered phoenixes and birds in vibrant colors, these cartouches surrounded by horizontal ribbed gold embellishment. The lower third of panels with layers of gilt scrolls and chevrons around vignettes decorated by birds and flowers in purples, blues, reds, and greens. Seven long multicolored tassels decorate the triangular base of panels. Framed approximately 61.5" x 13.25", panels approximately 54.5" long.
